I am giving away a beautiful Penguin copy of Sigrid Undset’s Kristin Lavransdatter, one of my favorite books (I have another copy), and a 1975 Faber & Faber paperback of Siegfried Sassoon’s Memoirs of a Fox-Hunting Man, a World War I novel. Do leave a comment if you’d like one or both.
Please, please, please, Sigrid Undset! I’ve wanted to read it for ages and that is such a beautiful copy.

Cynthia, I’m happy to give it to you! A friend gave it to me, and I’m sure if I took it to Half-Price Books I’d get 50 cents for it. Much better to direct it to a good home…

I really enjoyed your posts of a few years ago on Kristen Lavransdatter – I’ve never met anyone else who’s read Undset (I first heard of her through Alice Monroe’s Lives of Girls and Women, in which Del and Naomi are fascinated by Undset’s sex and childbirth scenes). If I didn’t have so many library books to get to I’d be tempted to re-read it! And the Sassoon, which I haven’t read for years.

I hoped to give away Sassoon too, but it looks like nobody wants it.
I LOVE Kristin Lavaransdatter. I found it at a used bookstore many years ago, and knew about it because a friend had read her quartet (the one that begins with The Axe). I should read more Undset. I did like the quartet, too.

I have it and the other two Sassoons in the trilogy but haven’t touched them yet.

Would love to have these books, neither of which I’ve read yet. Thanks for the chance.

Kamala, the Kristin is given away, but I am happy to send you the Sassoon. Send me your address at mirabiledictu.org@gmail.com and I’ll put it in the mail this week.
